Why do you want to be Wealthy?
Friday, December 4th, 2009

Why do you want to be wealthy? You may think this is a silly question. Doesn’t everybody want to be wealthy? The problem is, is that not many people understand exactly what being wealthy is. Generally people who aren’t wealthy believe that being wealthy means to have a lot of money.

Having a lot of money is only a by-product of being wealthy; it’s not the definition of wealthy. If you want to become wealthy, simply to have a lot of money then in actual fact you want to be rich. The term rich refers only to money. Rich doesn’t necessarily equate to a happy and fulfilling life. It does however; provide a better quality of misery.

The simple fact is that anyone who thinks a large sum of money will make them happy and fulfilled is in for bitter disappointment. This is why a lot of Lotto winners wind up wishing they never won. The reason is that they never understood the responsibility involved in having the money and the potential negative impact it can have on your life if you don’t first develop the tools required to handle and distribute large sums of money.

In my opinion, being wealthy means creating the lifestyle that most suits you by using money to make more money and being able to sustain that lifestyle without the requirement for a massive commitment of time and effort.

So the first thing you have to do is define what lifestyle is. How much free time do you want? What activities would you like to pursue and what will it cost? This will help you to choose the types of investments you will make.

Do you have a particular skill which you would like to use as the basis for a business venture? If so, how are you going to invest the profits? What is your exit strategy? Do you want to build the business up and sell it and retire, or do you intend to develop it to a point where you don’t need to be there anymore?

These things must be clearly defined and take careful planning. Every business or investment strategy requires direction to remain focused and to survive. It also has to have a clear cut purpose otherwise there is nothing driving it.

The majority of businesses that fail do so because there is no plan or purpose, so define these things first then do your research before you start. Then you will understand the difference between having money and becoming wealthy.

Bye for now

Success is the Opposite of ‘Normal’
Thursday, August 27th, 2009

For the want of a better description, the world is made up of two different types of people. ‘Successful people’ and ‘normal people’. 96% are the ‘normal’ while 4% are ‘successful’.

If we firstly understand that a person’s results are a direct result of their actions then it’s fair to assume that 96% of us take very different courses of action in our lives than the other 4% based on their results.

In fact many successful people simply say that if you want to become wealthy all you have to do is the exact opposite to what is considered normal.

The problem is that what is considered normal behaviour is defined by a large group of individuals. Individuals by definition are in fact different. If that’s the case, how can ‘normal’ be the same for every individual? This may seem complex but successful people understand that what’s normal for one person will not necessarily be normal for another. This means that an implied social normal is nothing more than a ‘standard’ for people to follow if they don’t have the drive or the will to be successful.

People who follow the normal standard will generally get a tertiary education, get a job, buy a house, buy a car, have 2.4 children, eventually pay off their debts, retire, live off a pension or super fund then die.

For people who want to be successful this standard is simply not suitable so they do the exact opposite.

Generally the education model they use is not tertiary or academic but involves life skills. They will make their money work for them first then buy the house of their dreams. Travelling and life great experiences happen while their young and their investments continue to grow allowing them to experience life throughout their life, instead of at the end of their life.

A truly successful person will get to the end of their life considering what they have done to be normal and what everybody else has done to be strange therefore, abnormal.

Therefore, if you wish to be successful it’s obvious that you have do the opposite of what the vast majority of people consider normal and make that normal for you.

Get Back on the Horse
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Most people at some point in their life will step out of their comfort zone and try something new to see if they can succeed. I’m not just talking about financial success but anything like a new sport or a hobby or something. What most people don’t realise is when give up after a few failed attempts, is that they were only one or two attempts from outstanding success.

If they had only got up and kept trying until they succeeded they would have realised what it feels like to succeed at something outside their comfort zone. There is no better feeling than to succeed at something you never thought you could possibly do. This is the single best method to build self confidence.

Your ability to be successful will be directly proportional to you willingness to keep trying. All successful people have to overcome failure along the way. A failure is not a failure unless you quit after it. If you try again then a failure is only a lesson on what not do. You can’t work out what you should do unless you know what not to do. Some of the most profound lessons in your life will come from failure.

A very important lesson I have learned from failure is that ‘no’ is not knockback, ‘no’ is feedback. You have to develop the ability to view all setbacks in this way. If a particular action achieves a negative result then don’t quit simply change the action and result will change.

The only I can absolutely guarantee is that if you are focused on the result and you keep trying and don’t ever give up, eventually you will get there.

All you have to do is apply this principal to every aspect of your life and the first time you succeed you will find the result such a boost to your self confidence that it will change your life forever.

Success and the Opinions of Others
Monday, July 20th, 2009

One of the biggest challenges to becoming successful is the negative opinions of the people around you. Once you embark on a journey of education and self improvement there will always be people that you regularly associate with that will question what you are doing and try to instill doubt in your mind about the direction you are heading. You will be told that ‘it’s risky’; ‘you need a lot of money to get started’; or ‘you’re out of your league’.

If you observe these people closely you will find that their opinions on most subjects are formed from the opinions of other similarly ill informed people. For example, I know a lot of people who tell me that share trading with Options is risky; however, when asked what Option is, they can’t answer the question. If they don’t know what an Option is, then how can they form a legitimate opinion?

The same goes for property investing, internet marketing and so on. I don’t mean to sound unkind but on a subconscious level most people don’t want you to be more successful than they are, so a negative opinion will be a natural reaction from their subconscious masked as advice to protect you from failure. This is rarely deliberate; in most cases they don’t realise this is even happening. It is not always as sinister as that either. In some cases these people are so entrapped by their own fear that they won’t even try to understand what it is that you are doing.

The important thing to always remember when confronted with someone’s opinion is to think about that person’s knowledge and results in the subject of opinion. You have to learn to shield yourself from the negativity of others and only listen to the opinions of people who are experienced in the subject and have proven results in that field. For example, if Warren Buffet held a particular opinion about events on the stock market, it would be worth listening to over an opposing opinion from your cousin who has never owned shares because he works hard for his money and he doesn’t want to lose it.

I have found that the best approach to this problem is to lead by example and not offer your opinion unless it is requested. Sooner or later the negative opinions become curiosity and before you know it, people will ask you your opinion because it has credibility.

The best way to fend off negativity is to stay focused, choose carefully whose opinion you will consider and strengthen your resolve to stay positive and you will succeed.

Your Passion will BE your SUCCESS!
Sunday, June 14th, 2009

70% of people are engaged in activities that they derive their living from that they don’t really like (i.e the daily grind of their 9-5 job, this is why the majority of heart attacks occur between the hours of 8.00 am and 10.00am on Monday mornings). This is why 90% of the world’s wealth is in the hands of 4% of the population. This is an alarming statistic but is a fact! The vast majority of people do what they do because they are satisfied with the fact that they have to earn a living so it may as well be “whatever pays the bills”.

How on earth could you expect to be successful in a situation like that?

Even if you worked really hard and got a promotion because you think the extra income will make it better, I guarantee that you will only find a higher level of pain unless your job involves something you love and are passionate about, in which case a promotion will be a natural progression.

We’ve all heard the stories about people leaving their job to buy into a franchise business and in a short space of time they have lost everything and their lives get turned upside down. This is not always the case; many people become extremely successful in a franchise business. In most cases those that don’t, will blame the franchise for the failure because they were sold a ‘sure thing’.

The truth is that most franchise failures are mainly due to the fact the Franchisee went into the business with little or no business experience not realising that even a franchise business still requires the same level of skill and commitment as any business.

The biggest problem however, is that in the majority of cases the main criteria for selecting their business from all the choices available was what they could afford. They then find that the core business is something that they really didn’t enjoy doing, didn’t properly understand and in time became enslaved by it. These are enormous obstacles to success. Whether it’s a job or a business, it’s extremely difficult to remain focused and committed if it doesn’t involve something that you are truly passionate about.

Everyone has something that they love and are passionate about. It could be a hobby, a sport, an activity of some sort, it really doesn’t matter. If you are passionate about it you will naturally excel at it. People will believe you and have confidence in you because you speak confidently about it. If you choose a business which is focused on what you are passionate about you will automatically attract customers who are interested in the same thing and your chances of becoming successful in that business are far greater than simply choosing a well priced franchise.

Customers are amazingly intuitive and will instantly pick up on your energy and they will want to deal with someone who is committed to the product or service they are looking for.

There is more to being in business than simply having a product or service that you love, but this will keep you focused on your business and your customers will begin to depend on your knowledge and above all trust you.

When you can earn a living from your favourite pursuit you will not consider it to be work. Then you can say you are successful.

Bye for now

Changing Your Environment for Success!
Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Does your Environment Inflate you or Deflate You?

Have a look around you; are you sitting somewhere that inspires you to grow? Inspires you to be who you are? If you are reading this at work, think about your home environment.

In our house, we have many living spaces and we have set each one up in a way that we can both feel comfortable in. For example, I love to cook, so most of my time is spent in the kitchen / dining room, and Tim likes to watch; however there was no where really for him to sit. So we moved our dining table to face a different way; put two (2) of the six (6) chairs in the spare room (after all there is only two (2) of us) and bought in a really comfy lounge.

We now have a space where we can both be comfortable, the lounge gets used a lot now and we have come up with some of our best business decisions whilst sitting on this lounge together.

Now I’m not suggesting that ring the builder and organise the renovations; but with a few simple changes you too can have the environment that is designed to inspire you.

It may be as simple as a coat of paint or moving the family heirloom picture hanging on the wall to a different room. I’ll be interested to hear your environment changes, be sure to let me know.

Have a great day!

Cheers Katie

Does Hard Work really make you Wealthy?
Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

If you are anything like me you will have grown up with a belief that the harder and longer you work, the wealthier you will become. I hear comments all the time such as “the only way to get rich is to work hard”. How many people do you know that are trying to get ahead and go out and get a second job. I know plenty of wealthy people who have worked their fingers to the bone and continue to do so until they physically can’t do it anymore. This is not success; this is self sabotage and potentially self destruction. These people have very little family life, social life or time to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Now I’m not saying that hard work is bad, I’ve done plenty of it and don’t regret a second of it. There is however, a difference between being committed to hard work and being committed to becoming successful. If true success only involved hard work very few people would want it. In fact hugely successful people don’t consider what they do to be ‘work’ because they enjoy doing it which in turn makes them want to do it. They also set aside time for other areas of their life like personal development, relationships, leisure pursuits, travel etc.

The best way to become successful if by becoming committed to educating yourself, the type of education I’m talking about is not available at any school or university. Becoming a member of this website is one piece of that puzzle. You can only learn the skills of success from those that are successful. Having access to the information contained in this website will open your mind to the possibilities outside hard work. The fact is that most people are too busy working to learn how to become successful.

Take time out of your busy life to attend seminars, read books and slow down for a moment to allow yourself the freedom to see the opportunities that exist all around you all the time. Massive opportunities pass people by all the time because they are too busy to educate themselves on how to recognise and capitalise on them.

Hard work does not equal success!

Real success comes when you master the skill of educating yourself and when you master this skill and create the lifestyle you want so badly using investment strategies that provide the income you desire without becoming enslaved by it.

This could be as simple as learning what finance options are available for your home loan to pay it off in half the time or having your property revalued and finding thousands of dollars $$ worth of equity you didn’t know you had. If you’re self employed (like us) learn how your business can increase its profits and at the same time decreasing your commitment of time to it.

Time is our most precious asset and it’s a limited resource so don’t waste too much time of it on ‘hard work’ because education is a far more effective option.

Bye for now

There is a common misconception in the community that to be successful involves an endless quest for the accumulation of a vast some of money requiring an enormous amount of sacrifice, a great deal of time, an exhausting amount of energy and in some cases a whole lot of luck.

The truth is there is a lot more to success than money alone. Truly successful people believe the exact opposite to be the case and rank money about fifth down the scale of priorities in their life behind things like health, personal growth and development, great relationships and phenomenal life experiences. Money is simply a tool used to achieve the goals above it on the list.

If there is one thing I’ve learned in my own quest for personal success it’s that the true definition of success is abundance in every area of your life, this starts with great relationships. Your level of success is largely dependant on how well you relate with other people. This is a skill to be developed like any other.

In fact if you truly want to become successful or acquire abundance in your life then there are a number of skills you have to develop first.

The first and most important is to develop the mindset of success. This means to set aside all of the thought patterns and beliefs you have been conditioned with and start with a completely open mind and clean slate. The level of success you have achieved so far is a direct result of your conditioning and if you want to change your results you have to change your actions. To change your actions you must change the way you think and make decisions.

Success is about defining what it is you truly want out of life and allowing your mind to develop the thought patterns required to achieve it.
